Expert survey

 

Expert survey –is a raw data collection, which is based on experience, knowledge and intuition of experts in the researched field. Experts – are specialists, who know specific sides of the researched phenomenon.
In order to conduct a survey interviewer must have sufficient competence in a studied field, as well, must know terminology which professionals use during the discussion of questions related to research subject. It is essential to pay attention on importance of every expert opinion for particular research, whereas in mass survey respondents are informed that all the obtained data will be a subject to general statistic processing.
As a rule, open formulation is used in expert survey. Closed questions are asked very rarely, usually for specifying or clarifying extent of consent with other respondents’ opinion.   
Expert survey (interview with managers, specialists of a company) – as a rule, such surveys are aimed to clarify hypothesis, development of forecasts and replenishment of interpretations related to specific social processes and phenomena. Open formulations dominate in that survey and closed questions are intended for evaluation of certainty level, measure of agreement or disagreement about already stated positions of other specialists.
 
Current tasks:
 
·         Obtaining information about market and processes in the market, information which due to some reasons is absent and belongs to small number of specialists.
·         Obtaining information about an object of the research which has specific features and is known only to professionals.
·         Finding forecasts of future events with absence of statistic data or with lack of data.
·         Obtaining quantitative evaluation of parameters which do not have other methods of measurements, for example, while evaluating the importance of objectives and preference of particular promotion methods.
·         Verifying hypothesis and interpretation replenishment of particular marketing and/or social phenomena and processes.
